In the app, go to Campaigns, start a new campaign, and choose "Upload your own voter file" — or go straight to the upload screen at app.doornoc.com/voter-upload. CSV or JSON, exported from wherever you keep your list.
doornoc matches your column headers to its own fields and shows you the first rows exactly as they will be imported. Fix a mapping if it guessed wrong, then start the import.
The import runs in the background: households are built by address, every address is placed on the map, and campaigns, turf, routes, and assignment work exactly as they do in a state doornoc already carries.
Your race does not have to wait for doornoc to process a state file. Bring the list and the state is live for your campaign the same day.

Voters at the same address are grouped into one household, so your canvassers knock a door once and see everyone behind it — not five separate pins on top of each other.
Once the addresses are on the map, Auto Turf cuts balanced routes and polygon routes work over your own file exactly the way they do over a state doornoc carries.
Assign a route and it lands in the canvasser's app like any other. Walking mode also marks Literature Dropped in bulk, so a volunteer can clear a whole block at once — see the canvassing app.
When your data vendor sends a refreshed file, upload it again. Rows whose voter ID doornoc has already seen are updated in place instead of duplicated.
Five columns are enough to get a voter to the right door. Everything else is picked up when it is there.
Without an address, a city, and a zip there is no door to place on the map.
Header names do not have to match doornoc's. FNAME, first_name, and "First Name" all land in the same field.
doornoc maintains the full voter file in these states. If your race is here, skip the upload — build a campaign and the voters are already waiting.

CSV and JSON. That covers an export straight out of VAN or VoteBuilder, your state Secretary of State file, an L2 or NGP pull, or any spreadsheet saved as CSV. There is no template to fill in first — upload the file you already have.
The minimum is first name, last name, street address, city, and zip — enough to place a voter at a real door. Everything else is optional and picked up automatically when it is there: voter ID, party, precinct, phone, email, age, and district columns. doornoc auto-matches the column headers, and you can correct any match before the import runs.
A 200-row list takes about a minute. Larger lists run in the background, so you can leave the page, close the tab, and come back — the import keeps going and the campaign fills in as it finishes.
Rows with a voter ID that doornoc has already seen are updated in place rather than added again, so a refreshed export from your data vendor does not duplicate your universe. Re-upload as often as your file changes.
No. Your file is loaded into a state table for your account to use, and every row is tagged with your account. Uploading does not add your list to anyone else’s voter data.
Nothing extra. Bringing your own voter file is part of every campaign plan — there is no per-row charge and no data fee for the upload itself.
